The Attorney That Rides’ Mindset Planning an Adventure!
I have been planning a trip around the world ever since I completed my second starting from Ushuaia, Argentina to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in 2019. My first run that earned me the world’s record from the Iron Butt Association doing that same run on a Harley-Davidson bagger in 2015 was the first international run I have ever completed. I got blocked by the covid ordeal and Europe going hog crazy with their restrictions. Now, I am concerned with Russia having to cross the Cross Siberian Highway during the Ukrainian war.
I am a big fan of Million Dollar Bogan who is an Harley adventurist on YouTube with over 136,000 subscribers following all his motorcycle adventures in different countries of the world. He is a well funded individual who has made his $$$$$ from real estate in Australia. He has started in local Aussie TV shows and is well known in his country. Watching his last installment of his Harley adventures in South America I was re-awakened with the call of the wild beckoning me to travel, but here I find myself in a recession that I cannot leave my office for 3-months like I did the last few times I have traveled carefree on my Harley.
He has great videos o YouTube that inspire me to get back out on the road and do what I love to do! Danny Bogan goes through the shit on his runs and like Dennis the Menace he finds himself in trouble in every other video episode. I have watched other riders travel videos and they tend to increase my fever that only a crazy long distance run can cure!
Everyone thinks I am a millionaire attorney that can take off on a whim. The truth of the matter is every time I have taken significant leave to ride I come back to a law firm whose income has slowed down to a trickle since I am needed in the office to make it rain……or drizzle. When I take off I am on the mountain top financially due to my savings then on the way back I am fighting to raise funds to keep my business afloat. Business goes down because most folks still believe i am still on the road thus the refer their friends to other Attorneys :(
I said all that to say this, I can’t just take off because my wife and kids depend financially on me. Family FIRST I always say! Here I find myself itching to go on an international ride but not one of long term. What is an Attorney That RIDES to do? I have the solution…..ride what you can afford BUT ride baby ride!
I have studied the situation and I plan to do a ten day excursion in Bolivia with a tour company that will cost me about $2,000 UDS. I will have a tour guide and i will hold my nose as I ride a jap 650cc motorcycle all over Bolivia. I will go so scout the land and ride the famous Death Road. I will determine what I need in gear to ride in the future on a Harley and which Harley to bring. I will calculate costs for food, expenses and hotels so that when I pull the trigger on a full blast run on my Harley in Bolivia I can come back to work without worrying at first about the financials.
I don’t plan to take on sponsors because I am too proud. I do some stuff reviewing products that I am given free. I am NOT or do NOT want to beg for $$$$$ to ride. I work hard, I fight hard for my clients as if they are family, and I put in long hours. I fund my long distance international adventures by people like you referring friends and family to my law firm. I funs my road trips the old fashion way….working hard! Thank you for your support but here is my strategy to get back on the adventurous life on the road with my leg over my harley.
I plan on writing more and placing great videos for you to watch in the days to come. This is my first installment on Gabe’s first steps into researching and coming with a plan to Ride the Death Road in Bolivia. I have a little of ADD in my writing style but FEAR NOT it will all hash out in the wash at the end of the day. Thank you for following me on YouTube and GAB!
