Registration Opens For the ATTORNEY THAT RIDES’ 30-Hour Ironman LDR Challenge™ (Meals of Honor)!
Edited Sunday, May 13, 2018
What many LDR Motorcyclists and ADV Bikers have been waiting the open registration of the Attorney That Rides’ 30-Hour Ironman LDR Challenge. This is a long distance endurance motorcycle challenge where the challengers are offered a map of points of interest (POI) to visit, while safely riding their motorcycles in the Sunshine State of Florida, and its neighboring states, earning points for each stop. Each POI is valued different according to its distance, time availability, or uniqueness. The goal of the challenge is to strategically obtain as many POI points as possible and returning to the City of Plantation, Florida with a gas receipt dated 1:00 PM or earlier.
This up-and-coming LDR event shall be the second executed by Attorney Gabriel Jose Carrera aka the Attorney That RIDES! Many may remember Gabe as being the first biker to ride from Tierra Del Fuego to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska as certified by the Iron Butt Association. Gabriel has been riding ADV/LDR since 2011 by participating in Ultimate America Long Distance Run, Tour of Honor, Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge, American Legends Rally, and the Iron Butt Jax Annual Banquet Runs. Gabe was the Rally Master for the 1st Annual 30-Hour Ironman LDR Challenge.
The purpose of the rally is to raise $$$ for Thanksgiving dinners for veterans and families of those who’s significant others are fighting overseas. The American Legion Post 180 in Plantation, FL has the fundraiser named MEALS OF HONOR. Every $50 buys a cooked med size turkey, sides, and a pie delivered to their homes. Last year we had so much $$$ left over that we purchased Christmas dinners for the same and toys for their children and grandchildren. All donations toward this run is 100{6afdcdf14f1f3d0d6d046bdd6bb6844d1d6f78a435ef85ae323b1d28ccc5d3f7} tax deductible through the American Legion.
There will be trophies awarded for different category winners that include, but not limited to, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, most miles, and least miles among the few. The trophies shall be awarded at the American Legion Post 180 on Veterans’ Day in Plantation, Florida.
“This is Not a Race, But Rather a Test of Planning, Preparation, Strategy, and Tactics, Riding Skill, and Endurance!”
In February 2018 the first ever 30-Hour Ironman LDR motorcycle Challenge was held in Marathon, FL raising $$$$ for the Hurricane Irma victims through the Coral Head Music Festival through the American Legion Post 154 and the City of Marathon. The Long Distance Challenge was a success while few sat on the sidelines waiting to hear about the other’s experience. There was a total of 26 challengers that participated in the event.
There were bonus points for certain POIs that enabled the challengers to bump up an advantage against those that were veterans in past LDR rally events. One of my favorite bonus points for the first Ironman LDR Challenge was the kissing sailor where you had to go to the big statute in Key West, Tampa area and in the American Legion Post 180 in Plantation, FL!
Below is a video describing one of the many bonus points for the challengers.

The Attorney That Rides – Rider of the Year Award!
Gabe Carrera, Esq., aka the Attorney That RIDES will decide who wins this award and he will explain why that Challenger received the award. He will not tell you how to win but basically he will see at the end of the run who deserves the Award. The Award is a secret and shall be awarded on stage after the run is completed and all the scores have been tallied!
After the 30 hours was up one of the challengers won the award for riding in on the longest miles……MICHIGAN! Here are some pics of him and what he posted when he returned homes from Marathon, FL to MI. Here are his beginning and ending pics with stats on his trip southbound for some Florida heat.
“Of all the riding I have done (including the 40k miles this year alone) that was some of the toughest riding yet. 1300 miles into my 1628 mile BBG (1500+ miles in 24-hrs) back from the Florida keys and I had to bring my A game for the last 300 miles/4hrs of hard rain, fog, mist, semi traffic mist, and very strong wind. Temps fell to 41 degrees so super lucky for no ice and warmish temps for Michigan winter…but all of that rain, wind, and fog sure challenged my riding abilities and LD riding!
In the end I made it safely, on time, and even had a bit of fun with the challenge! Aerostitch and Gore-Tex boots kept me completely dry and heated jacket liner kept me warm. The wing performed great! It was so great meeting you all!! Great group of riders and I hope to be back at the next one! Such a fun rally and wonderful bonus points to visit!” – Eric James
