Gabe Ecuador Motorcycle Adventure: Day 1-2 Quito Here I Come
So the 15-hour work week was driving me crazy as the 4-walls squeezed in on me. I missed the Pan American highway and all the adventure that came with it. Lucky for me I purchased two air flights for my wife and I. This is not normal because I usually ride by myself. My wife in our 22-years of marriage only rode about 200-miles with me. Now she was going to ride the mountains with me on a bike that I was not used to.
In this video below I am leaving Miami and arriving into the South American country of Ecuador. My wife does not like to have her pics of videos posted to the public on social media. I am a social media whore that leave a documentary of hundreds of posts for my grand kids to watch when they are bored
Well, I left Miami, Florida at 1:30 AM and arrived at 9:30 AM into the Quito, Ecuador airport. As you can expect it was an early evening for me since the air travel took a toll on me. Day two I woke up and grabbed my gear to pick up my bike at Ecuador Bike rentals. The bike had me on my toes since it was so high. My wife was not to confident in me since I am a Harley guy on an adventure bike.
In this video I am documenting the bike pick up I had to bribe my wife with a pedicure in the salon next to Ecuador Bike Rentals. She is lightening up and having a great time. I will share more later but in the up coming rider’s report you will see her opening up to the cam!
The reason for my travel is not only to ride the mountains of Ecuador but to attend the Horizons Unlimited event in Ecuador. I was reading the pitch to come to Ecuador on the website and here is what HU stated:
“You can meet people who don’t think you’re crazy for wanting to ride your bike to South America or Africa or across Asia, or even around the world! Admit it, all your ‘normal’ friends and most of your family fears for your sanity! So, this is your opportunity to meet the people who will encourage you in that craziness, share their experiences and advice on how to do it, and maybe you’ll meet them again in Mongolia or Timbuktu!”
