Conquering Prudhoe Bay: My First Harley Adventure in Alaska!
In this post of the Attorney That RIDES’ BLOG gabe enters Prudhoe Bay, Alaska on a 2013 Police edition Road King that he purchased off lease from the Daytona Beach Police Department. Gabe had just finished 10,000 mile Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge that started in Key West, Florida finishing in Homer Spit, Alaska. After that gabe crossed Alaska heading East to Fairbanks, Alaska which is a big town before going up the Dalton Highway. Gabe in the video below is seen entering Prudhoe Bay, Alaska as you would see it as if you are riding. From the barren frozen tundra Gabe sees his first glimpse of civilization with small buildings belonging to the oil town.
The run from Fairbanks is approximately 500 miles with very few gas stops. From Coldfoot Alaska to Prudhoe Bay your Harley 6.2 gallon gas tank will not give you enough gasoline to make it. Without an auxiliary gas tank or bringing an additional 5-gallons in a plastic red gas can your going to get stuck literally in the middle of nowhere. Leaving Coldfoot you will NOT have access to gas until you reach the top in Prudhoe Bay. While riding these roads it important to take notice that these highways belongs to the truckers who haul supplies to Prudhoe bay. You see a truck coming up in your review view mirror pull over and let them by. They will give you NO mercy since this is their road. Trust me….pull over and let them by or make a video for YouTube competing against these monster Ice Road Truckers!

Below you will see the Iron Butt Associations’ certificate that Gabe obtained in 2019. Gabe earned one in 2014 that is hanging on the wall in his Law Firm in Fort Lauderdale. The Iron Butt Association (IBA) allows you to start and finish the run in 30-days. In 2014 gabe started in Key West ending his IBA run in Prudhoe Bay. He then left the top of the world to return to Florida, bypassing his house heading down to Key West getting a double whammy certificate from the IBA!
The Ultimate Coast-to-Coast Challenge was conducted under very strict guidelines set forth by the Iron Butt Association. Mr. Carrera is only one of a handful of motorcyclists to survive this Extreme Iron Butt Challenge!

Gabe in Coldfoot Basecamp 2015 after a Night of Drinking!
Here is a view of the Coldfoot Basecamp for those who have never rode there to see it. They allow you to camp on the grounds if you pitch a tent or rent a broom closet size room for $200+ for the night. At the basecamp they have a post office, great restaurant, gift shop, showers for truckers or dirty bikers, fuel, and a mechanic’s shop. Here gabe met up with some active military drinking the night away. At 3:00 AM it looks like 3 in the afternoon cause the sun does NOT go away due to the summer axis of the Earth. Watch gabe almost get bear sprayed for harassing a drunk camper at the Coldfoot Basecamp.
Gabe at the Beginning of the Dalton Highway!
Gabe hooks up with a motley crue from New Jersey that were riding the 50-states in 6-months. They hooked up and drove to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Gabe had to be left behind due to the electrical issues on his Harley Road King, but he would run into them again as the NJ crue was departing from Prudhoe Bay. Funny thing is Gabe is talking about the Mosquitoes and if you look closely you will see a large mosquito on the right side of his forehead having the drink of his life time. Huge black mosquito!
